Sunday helped out with the PA commentating for the Thanet Full and Half Marathon (a race service that Run & Race can provide). Usual great organisation by the host club Thanet Road Runners AC and the new location for the start/finish was excellent with superb sea views.

Race times were somewhat down on previous years probably due to the heat combined with strong coastal breezes. There was a large contingent of 100 Marathon Club runners doing the full marathon race.

Had not really been aware before of  nature of this club other than assuming that you qualified if you had completed 100 recognised marathon races, but through chatting with some of them before and after the race learned about the amazing statistics associated with the club members.

We were told that the chairman of the club (a Vet60  who completed Sundays course in just under 4 hours) had run over 750 ! (yes that is seven hundred and fifty) marathons to date.  Subsequently went for one of my favourite training runs today round the Black Route in Blean Woods (only 8 miles !) feeling a little humble.
