This week the first of the East Kent Inter Club Relays in Folkestone and a chance after a long break from competitive road racing to have a go at what is always a great event with club runners of all standards giving their all for their respective category teams and in the process gaining the training and conditioning benefit from a 2.5 mile sustained tempo effort. Great sunny weather during the day but as can often be the case along the English Channel in late spring once the sun had disappeared a strong and cold onshore breeze picked up. As a result the first section of the leg along the promenade below Leas Cliffs , directly into the wind , was tough going but after the turn round point at Sandgate a completely different story and the return stretch along the promenade was literally a breeze. Great fun, great cameraderie. All in all a blast. Looking forward to the next event at Minnis Bay at the end of the month.
