Swanley Park and round two of the Kent Fitness League  Cross Country series. After what seems like a month of off/on heavy rain the terrain was nicely primed to deliver up a quality XC race. None of the forecast frosty conditions and by start time sunny and even warm ! With over 500 competitors and a three lap course by lap three we had a true mudscape in sections with the choice of footwear ( spikes ,trail or mudclaw ) seemingly not making a great difference in terms of slippage. Still the mud and the short but punishing  inclines made for a tough test and a training value way above the 5 miles run . No muddy ditches or ponds to negotiate – still you can`t have everything ?
